Rachel and David's outdoor wedding ceremony at Dunton Hot Springs surrounded by mountains

Some weddings feel like a big celebration. Rachel and David's felt like coming home. Tucked into the San Juan Mountains at Dunton Hot Springs, their intimate ceremony brought together 45 of their closest people for a weekend of campfires, hot springs, and the kind of love that fills up a whole valley.

Rachel got ready in one of Dunton's restored log cabins while David wrote his vows on the front porch of theirs — they could almost hear each other through the trees. The first look happened on a wooden bridge over the West Fork of the Dolores River, and I don't think either of them stopped smiling for the rest of the day.

The ceremony was held in an open meadow with the peaks as their backdrop. No microphones, no programs — just handwritten vows that had every single guest reaching for tissues. David's voice cracked three words in, and Rachel's mom was done for after the first sentence.

The reception was everything you'd want a mountain dinner party to be — long farm tables, wildflower arrangements, and homemade pie instead of cake (Rachel's grandmother's recipe). Speeches ran long because nobody wanted the evening to end, and the dancing spilled out under the stars until well past midnight.
